What does it take to be successful?

So what does it take to be successful?

If you are asking that question then you are still on the hunt for your success and that is a good hunt to be on!

If you know the answer then you have either acquired what you desire or you have spoken to the right people, asked the right questions and continue on your quest for success.

Success eludes many but when you talk to those who have found it they all seem to possess many of the same qualities and characteristics.  This seems to hold true through time, as Napoleon Hill found the same to be true as a result of 20 years of interviews with the world’s top 500 wealthiest and most successful people.  They too all seemed to share many of the same qualities and characteristics.

So what does it take to be successful?

Mankind has most likely been asking this question since our creation; as we seem to be hard-wired for growth, evolvement, and achievement…to be better than when we started…success!

Well here is a great video from TED, where Richard St. John shares his 7 years of research of 500 interviews as to what it takes to be successful.

Richard does a great job of wrapping up his results in 8 little words and these words mirror what has been said all along; successful people have these qualities and characteristics and it appears as though they have for centuries, including a Mom to help push!

We are often told to follow and listen to those who have been or are where we want to go or be.  That is sound advice and when you do, I am sure you will hear many of the same things as you are today in this post and video.   It won’t really matter who you follow and listen to as long as they are successful where you want to go and are heading.

But if these 8 traits are all it takes then wouldn’t many more people be successful?  I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to be successful in whatever that definition means to them.

Yet they still have not found success and yes some are missing one of the eight but some are not missing any of them, so what is stopping them?  Why haven’t they found the success they desire if they actually possess the 8 traits of success as described in the video?

I say there is one huge key missing on this list!  The one thing  missing that will stop anyone from finding success, even those who possess the 8 traits suggested in the video.

BELIEF!

If you don’t believe you can do it, deserve it or that it can happen you are dead in the water!  Heck even Disney tells us all our dreams can come true if we believe!

I know that you can do anything you really want to do as long as you believe!

I believe in You!

So I will leave you with another video that says it all!  It is from the musical the “Wiz” and has always been a favorite of mine as the words are really so powerful!  It is a song that Glenda, the Good Witch, sings to Dorothy about her ability to take herself back home to Kansas.

So add belief to your vision in addition to the 8 traits of success and you my friend will find the pot of gold at the end of your rainbow!
